Energy Efficient Pool Pump

This is the second of 7 Ways to Save on Your New Pool which is available for free from our library of eBooks.

Are you aware that a pool pump can use more energy than all your appliances combined?

One of the best ways to save money on your new pool is to consider an energy efficient pool pump. Actually, in Florida, installing an energy efficient pool pump will soon be the law!

On July 1, 2011, the Florida State Energy Law will require that energy efficient pool pump motors be used when constructing new pools.

7 Ways to Save on Your New PoolAll pumps will be required to switch to dual speed pumps, which is a standard pool pump with an additional low- speed winding mode. The low-speed allows pool filtration to occur at a more efficient cost per gallon which drastically reduces your electric bill and energy cost for your new pool. As the dual speed pool pump runs slower, pressure and friction are decreased.

An energy efficient pool pump will save you up to $55 every month on your electric bill! You will break even on the initial cost after 10 months running the pump 8-10 hours per day. Then let the savings flow!

One of my favorite brands is the “Variable Flow”, made by Pentair. The Pentair pool pump is user friendly and programmable. This is one the main reasons I recommend this model.

    Hi Joe,

good article on energy efficient pool pumps. Given the cost of energy in our part of the world (Belgium), our customers are also eager to learn more about it.

We are also a big fan of the Pentair Variable Flow pump.

    keep up the good work!
