Have you checked the chemicals in your pool lately?

Pool Service - Pool Chemicals

Did you know that if the chemicals that balance your pool are out of out of balance – it can harm your pool, its equipment, and your family?

Because the water in your pool is never ‘technically’ replaced, owning a pool means you have a continual battle to keep it in balance.

A balanced pool has proper levels of pH, Total Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness.

It’s really important to understand that pH is the measure of how acidic or alkaline the water is.  (Just so you know, pH is a logarithmic scale that starts at 0 and ends at 14 – with 7 being neutral.)

Like the human eye (which typically has a pH of 7.35 – which is slightly alkaline), you want your pool water to have a similar rating.

Easy to remember, right? 😉

If your water is below a rating of 7.0 it has a corrosive (acidic) condition and you’ll have to add chemicals to prevent corrosion in your pool and of the equipment that keeps your pool looking so great!

If your water is above a rating of 7.8 it has a scaling (alkaline) condition and you’ll have to add chemicals to prevent the formation of scale, or calcium deposits on the tiles, in the filter, and pool equipment.

As you can probably tell, it’s really important that your pool’s chemicals are continually kept in the safe range.

Depending on the environment you’re in, you may have to check your chemicals every few days just to assure you, your family and friends can enjoy your pool without being in any danger.

If you’re not comfortable keeping an eye on your chemicals, but want to continually have a safe, healthy environment for you, your family, friends, and your pool, be sure to learn more about how we can help with our Pool Service Plans.
